Wheelchair Service Engagement Board
NewsRecently a wheelchair service engagement board for Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight launched. As a service, we are encouraging wheelchair users, carers, parents, relatives and professionals to join the board and engage in the quarterly meetings to help develop the wheelchair service in Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. These meetings will be between 1-2 hours long, and will be held both virtually via Microsoft teams and in person here in the Chandlers Ford Service Center. The first one was held in September 2021, and the next one is due to take place in Jan/Feb 2022. Various topics will be covered during these meetings, such as eligibility criteria, personal wheelchair budgets (PWB’s), communication, and many more.
Introducing the CHEO and the new ’48hr call back service’
NewsWelcome! I am Emily Galton, the new Community Health & Engagement Officer for Millbrook Healthcare. I started working for the NHS wheelchair service in May 2021.
I come from an extensive caring background both personally and professionally, and I have lived experience caring for a wheelchair user. As part of my role within the NHS Wheelchair & Repair Service for West Hampshire, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, I will be working closely with the local team to help develop the NHS wheelchair service. I will be engaging with you in the community and listening to your feedback – your views matter.
I am currently working on a new, exciting project – a Service User Engagement Board! The Board is an opportunity for service users, carers, parents, and professionals to get involved and have a say in running their Wheelchair & Repair Service.
There are currently six board members across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You can attend our quarterly meetings virtually or in person, making it inclusive and accessible for everyone. Want to have your say? Join the engagement board! For more information, please get in touch on 0333 003 8071.
I also offer a call back service within 48 hours. You can get in touch with me by phoning the customer service number on 0333 003 8071. This call back service will be for signposting information and general questions, where I will be more than happy to assist you where possible.
I work from the customer service office in Chandlers Ford service centre in Hampshire. However, I do travel to the Newport, Isle of Wight service centre. I am currently working on new projects for the Isle of Wight and Hampshire, so keep checking this blog for updates.
Inside our service centres, you can find displays with a wealth of information and contact details for local forums, support groups, charities etc.
